Sala Baï Restaurant & Hotel School

Sala Baï Restaurant & Hotel School

A training hotel, restaurant, and spa where guests enjoy high-quality hospitality while supporting education, gender equity, and community livelihoods.

OUR EXPERIENCES

Set on the riverside in a serene tropical garden, Sala Baï Hotel School offers travelers a unique and human hospitality experience through its training hotel, restaurant, spa, and boutique shop. Guests enjoy high-quality service delivered by students trained for 4 to 5 star hotels and restaurants. Along with their meal, stay, or massage, travelers can visit the school and experience an NGO program that trains underprivileged young Cambodians, while also exploring community-based tourism in Phnom Kulen through off-the-beaten-path treks led by local villagers.

ABOUT US

Sala Baï is a program of the NGO Agir pour le Cambodge, fighting against poverty and human trafficking through education and vocational training. The school trains 150 underprivileged students every year, 70% of whom are women, reflecting a strong commitment to gender equality in Cambodia’s job market. Students practice in real conditions at the training restaurant, hotel, and spa. A newer project in Phnom Kulen aims to develop an eco-tourism model that supports local communities in building sustainable incomes, with part of the benefits also supporting local schools.

IMPACT

We offer meaningful travel experiences in Siem Reap at Sala Baï (restaurant, spa, hotel) and in Phnom Kulen, where we support two community-based tourism centers providing sustainable livelihoods through eco-tourism. These initiatives offer off-the-beaten-path treks, promote local artisans, and contribute to education, with part of the profits supporting nearby schools. Since 2002, Sala Baï has trained around 2,200 students, 70% women, with 97% securing their first job within three months. Long-term studies show 97% of alumni remain employed, positively impacting their families and communities. Environmental awareness is integrated into our curriculum through workshops and sustainable practices.
