African Environments

Explore Tanzania through guided safaris and climbs that connect you with wildlife, culture, and conservation through low-impact travel.

OUR EXPERIENCES
African Environments is a family-run Tanzanian adventure travel company offering private safaris, Kilimanjaro climbs, Serengeti walking safaris, mobile camps, and specialist film outfitting. Based in Arusha since 1983, we provide immersive, low-impact experiences that connect travellers with Tanzania’s wildlife, landscapes, and communities through expert guiding, ethical operations, and sustainability-focused travel.

ABOUT US
Our mission is to deliver exceptional adventure experiences in Tanzania while protecting the natural environments and communities that make them possible. We strive to lead through ethical tourism, sustainability, and professional excellence - creating travel that is meaningful, responsible, and beneficial for both people and planet.

IMPACT
African Environments creates measurable impact through long-term ethical employment, sustainability initiatives, and community investment in Tanzania. We employ and train over 400 Tanzanians annually across guiding, hospitality, logistics, and outdoor education, supporting career development and fair wages. Our low-impact tourism model includes solar energy, waste reduction, partnership with OKOTA Waste Management for recycling and upcycling, and conservation-focused safari operations that minimise environmental footprint. We actively support local communities through skills training, cultural partnerships, and responsible tourism that respects and benefits Indigenous groups such as the Hadza and Maasai. Through Wilderness First Aid and professional development courses, we also provide education that strengthens local capacity. Since 1983, our business model has consistently demonstrated that tourism can successfully combine adventure, conservation, and social responsibility while protecting Tanzania’s natural and cultural heritage.
