We offer immersive community-driven volunteer experiences in Kibra focused on sustainable development and social impact. Travelers can directly engage with our local initiatives, which include participating in our community feeding programs, supporting our youth mentorship hubs, and assisting with gender-based violence (GBV) advocacy and sanitary pad distribution. Engolon is a community-based organization dedicated to empowering the residents of Kibra. We drive sustainable community development through active youth mentorship, localized food security and feeding initiatives, gender-based violence advocacy, and essential health support for women and girls.

Social & Community: We actively coordinate essential hygiene support and gender-based violence (GBV) advocacy hubs, directly distributing sanitary towels to safeguard the dignity and education of local women and girls.

Education & Awareness: Our hands-on youth mentorship programs provide structured guidance and leadership paths, equipping the neighborhood's youth with practical life skills and community-building opportunities.

Environmental & Food Security: We lead impactful environmental sanitation and neighborhood cleanups, seamlessly integrating them with our community feeding program to address immediate nutrition and food security gaps for local children and volunteers.

Rather than just planning, we consistently mobilize on-the-ground volunteer networks, creating a safe, welcoming space where international travelers can actively engage with real, transparent community empowerment.

What accommodations do you make for people living with disabilities?
Due to the informal nature and steep, uneven terrain of the Kibra landscape, wheelchair accessibility is physically limited across outdoor community routes. However, we ensure inclusivity by adapting our volunteer experiences. We provide dedicated, seated roles at our main stationary hubs—such as assisting directly within our community feeding kitchen, supporting indoor youth mentorship sessions, or helping coordinate the logistics and distribution of sanitary materials. We also assign designated local team guides to provide personalized pace-matching and one-on-one physical navigation support for visitors with limited mobility or visual impairments.
