Chatsworth House Trust

Chatsworth House Trust

Explore a historic estate with grand interiors, gardens, parkland, and a farm while supporting heritage preservation and environmental progress.

OUR EXPERIENCES

Chatsworth is a place to learn, explore and create in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Visitors can experience a Grade I listed house and stables, a 105-acre garden, a farmyard and adventure playground, and more than 1,800 acres of parkland and historic woodland.

ABOUT US

Chatsworth and its surrounding estate are managed by the Chatsworth House Trust, a charity established in 1981 that is dedicated to the long-term preservation of the house, the collections, garden, woodlands and park for the long-term benefit of the public. Every penny generated through ticket sales and memberships is directly invested back into the charity to fund our goals.

IMPACT

Chatsworth drives positive impact across social, economic and environmental areas for its shared future. We preserve and share our 500-year history with exhibitions both locally and internationally, community partnerships and projects that remove barriers to visiting. Since 2013 we have reduced our emissions by 39% towards our goal of reaching net zero across the wider estate. Educationally we run programmes for schools, local groups and offer a wide range of adult learning throughout the year.

We provide a map of the gardens showing accessible routes, and visitors can hire manual wheelchairs and mobility scooters for a small fee. The farmyard and adventure playground has a lift between the two levels of the farmyard and ramp access to the playground. All catering and retail facilities are on the ground floor and fully accessible. Accessible toilets are located near the house entrance, inside the Carriage House Café and farmyard. We also have a registered Changing Places toilet near the house entrance.
