Davids Organic Farm, Gwarmacwydd
OUR EXPERIENCES
Davids Organic Farm offers stays in five individual stone buildings on a working organic farm of over 450 acres on the River Tâf in West Wales, sleeping two to twenty-two, with the whole farm available to groups. Every morning at 8:30 guests join a real farmer to feed the goats, hens, calves and bottle-fed lambs. They can drive a tractor, fish 2.5 miles of private riverbank free, and walk 50 acres of ancient woodland without leaving the farm. Travellers come to take part in a working farm through the seasons.
ABOUT US
A family farm at Gwarmacwydd for forty years, certified organic since 1999. We share over 450 acres with our guests and farm to leave the land better than we found it. Our ethos: we do not inherit the land from our ancestors — we borrow it from our children.
IMPACT
Gwarmacwydd has been certified organic since 1999 (OF&G UKF040573): 27 years without herbicides, pesticides or routine veterinary drugs, inspected every year. We are regenerative in practice and organic by certificate. 30.77% of our 450+ acres is permanent habitat and woodland, three times the 10% our farm scheme requires, including a Site of Special Scientific Interest under an approved management plan. Water comes from our own borehole and spring, sewage is treated on site, two of our buildings are heated by a boiler burning our own timber, and the herd is fed entirely from the farm. We employ local people, use local suppliers and tradesmen first, and bring visitors inland and out of season, away from the coast where tourism money concentrates. Every guest joins a real farmer on the 8:30 morning round and hears the farm's story, back to the sixth-century Vortipor Stone. Schools and study groups visit.
