ABOUT US
EsoTerra Arboretum & Winery is a 70-acre estate in Durango, Colorado, crafting award-winning heritage-apple ciders and estate wines. We're preserving 250+ heritage apple varieties and researching high-elevation viticulture while building a community gathering place, from tastings to weddings, rooted in conservation, local agriculture, and authentic Southwest Colorado experiences.
IMPACT
EsoTerra's 70-acre estate is a conservation orchard and research vineyard advancing heritage-fruit preservation and high-elevation, cold-climate winemaking in the Four Corners region, developed in partnership with the Colorado Department of Agriculture, the Colorado Wine Development Board, and Colorado State University's viticulture program. Our irrigation is solar-powered, part of a broader commitment to water-conscious agriculture in an arid region. EsoTerra is women- and Hispanic-owned, and our staff is predominantly female or from underserved communities.
Co-founder Jared Scott's family has roots in the region tracing back hundreds of years, and that connection to the land's agricultural heritage shapes our mission of preservation. We offer hands-on workshops and trainings in orcharding and vineyard management, giving travelers place-based knowledge of regenerative agriculture and heritage-fruit preservation. EsoTerra also functions as a community hub, creating local jobs and reinvesting tourism dollars into a rural Colorado county where agritourism remains underdeveloped.
