Lavyn granja de lavanda
OUR EXPERIENCES
We are an innovative agro-tourism company that grows lavender and aromatic plants in the semi-desert in a sustainable and regenerative way. We share knowledge and experiences through distillation workshops and guided tours, both for schools and the general public, and we make natural edible and personal care products with the aromatic plants (creams, shampoos, soaps, teas, etc).
ABOUT US
Lavyn seeks to innovate and create alternatives in the Mexican countryside in three ways: generating local jobs and knowledge about techniques for extracting aromatic plants; developing natural products aimed at wellness (relaxation and personal hygiene); and allowing visitors to enjoy the peace and beauty that the aromatic plants give off while exploring the farm, which is located in the countryside of Tequisquiapan.
IMPACT
Lavyn farm was born in the semi-desert lands of the Bajio that don’t have access to well water and that for centuries produced corn and beans thanks to the rain, and increasingly less because of the overuse of agrochemicals. With the idea of creating an agritourism business, we found that aromatic plants were suitable for this ecosystem and guaranteed sustainable management through drip irrigation and soil regeneration. With lavender and aromatic plants, Lavyn combined environmental regeneration with relaxation products, attracting visitors concerned about sustainability and using natural products on their bodies. Our location outside the tourist zone has created jobs in local communities, taking advantage of the farming experience of the ejidatarios (many returned after living in the USA). We are attracting schools so that young people can learn about the opportunities the countryside offers by producing new plants and turning them into consumer products.
