Kew Wakehurst
OUR EXPERIENCES
Kew Wakehurst is a wild botanic garden and living laboratory in Sussex, home to the world’s largest wild seed bank, making us one of the most biodiverse places on the planet.
We are a sanctuary for wild seeds and plants from across the world to be saved, studied and grown again.
You can visit the seed bank, step into our historic Mansion to learn about our history and fire, and take part in award-winning events and hands-on learning that connect people to our landscapes and nature. Our facilities offer top-class food and beverage options and a well-stocked plant centre and gift shop. We allow dogs across most of the site.

IMPACT
Here, pioneering science and rich natural landscapes work together to unlock solutions to nature restoration in the UK and across the globe.
Across 535 acres, visitors can see how every habitat serves a mission, from temperate woodlands and meadows of the world to critically endangered Wollemi pines and an American Prairie demonstrating climate-resilient gardening.
At its heart is Kew’s Millennium Seed Bank, the world’s largest store of seeds from wild plant species. Those threatened seeds are cultivated with care in rich landscapes, providing a foundation for research by scientists in laboratories and in the field.
Our research underpins policy decisions. Our learning and public engagement programmes engage thousands of people in understanding why plants and fungi matter and how to connect with and protect our natural world.
